December Newsletter and Lineup Announcement

December 5, 2015 3:07 pm

Dear Bearded lads & ladies

We are still working away on quite a few more bands for the Pallet but we are delighted to announce LEVELLERS top Friday’s bill and they will be joined by KILLING JOKE, REVEREND & THE MAKERS with RED MONROES opening the day. We still have the second biller and another great act to be released that will complete Friday’s billing. Saturday sees protest singer BILLY BRAGG joining the lineup, we still have the top two bands to announce for both Saturday and Sunday.

After selling 100,000 copies of his latest album, JACK SAVORETTI will be headlining the Woodland on Saturday and will be joined by FAIRGROUND ACCIDENTS. The DUB PISTOLS headline the Thursday as well as DR & THE MEDICS and we have a couple more yet to announce.

The bands on Thursday will not be hitting the stage until the gates have closed. Sunday’s headliner for the Woodland is still yet to be confirmed along with several other acts that we are currently talking to. There is plenty more for us to do, however we have some really decent bands in the mix. We can’t wait to finally blab this to you before Christmas (that’s a promise as we have been proper annoying with our delayed announcements this year)!

We are delighted to be welcoming our new venue which is the MAUI WAUI which comes complete with an Octopus (which sealed the deal from our side). This promises to host some electric bands mixed in with some great circus performances between bands. The full line up is yet to be released along with the Magical Sounds line up.

The Woodland will be hosting standup comedy into the early hours after a fair few requests this year. Gail is back with her motley crew to run the crazy Something Else Tea Tent and open mic, amazingly this is Gail’s 9th year with the festival. The festival school is back on the Friday and the Children’s Village will once again be free of charge to all parents. Thornbridge are back again for their 5th year at the festival bringing award winning ales at pub tariffs. Following on from feedback we are putting a bigger selection of real ales and ciders into the Woodland area. We also have an exciting new cabaret tent but we are sorting out some finer details with this. The site art budget has been doubled and will be brought together by our friends at Labyrinth Arts along with them producing a wonderful healing area.

We have repositioned the car park so you don’t have any ramps or road crossings and its much closer to the campsite than last year. Apologies, we fluffed that up last time around. We also have the same toilet contractor back again to make sure we are sparkling for the whole festival. We also have looked at sorting out the public transport to the festival and we are delighted to have coaches picking up in 18 locations plus running a shuttle service from Litchfield. Every person that uses the service we will protect 5 square foot of the rain forest for 10 years. Please use the service as it’s taken us ages to get this sorted and it will save parking charges. The quiet camping will be in a much bigger area along with access camping. It’s great to see these areas being used and being available to those that need it.

Sorry for our ongoing incompetence with our announcements but hang in there as we will be delivering a humdinger of a line up for 2016.

With all this wind and rain, it does make you appreciate being outside in the sun (hopefully) at festivals.

Hopefully you will join us next year.
